Katie Dotie is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who earned her Bachelor Degree in Psychology from Louisiana State University in 2011. She continued her education and earned a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Louisiana State University in 2014.
Katie began working in the field of children and family as an Assistant Director of Discovery/Renew Family Resource Center where she gained a wealth of knowledge and skills as it relates to engaging and providing skills to parents and children. She furthered her career as a Medical Social Worker in a hospital setting in which she utilized engagement skills learned from case management to work with patients dealing with challenging situations.
Currently, Katie is the Director of Community Based Services at Volunteers of America. Through this experience, Katie has refined her skills with providing intensive therapy to families who have had traumatic experiences and preventing out of home placements. Katie has worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting problems, career challenges, family issues, etc. Katie also has an extensive history with helping those who have experienced physical trauma or emotional abuse.
Katie’s therapy style is straight-forward and involves a little humor and a non-judgmental space for everyone. Katie believes in respect, treating each person with care and empathy. Katie’s approach combines cognitive-behavioral, solution-focused, and rational-emotive behavioral therapy. Katie values client centered approaches and will tailor dialogue and treatment plan goals to meet client’s unique and specific needs.
